WESTMINSTER RESOURCES LTD. - PHASE ONE DRILLING AT ANITA COPPER GOLD AND SILVER PROJECT COMPLETED; CORE SENT TO ASSAY LABORATORY

WMR-TSX.V

VANCOUVER, April 12 /CNW/ - Westminster Resources Ltd. ("Westminster" or "the Company") has focused its exploration work since November, 2010 in the area of the historic Anita Copper Mine located within the Company's 17,000 hectare El Cobre property in Sonora, Mexico.

The Company is pleased to report that holes targeting the main breccia zones were successful in intercepting the leached and weathered copper oxide and precious metal bearing unit. One hole also hit primary copper sulphides encapsulated in quartz and silica fragments within the host breccia unit at a vertical depth of about 82 meters. The Company interprets this as an example of the high grade copper-gold-silver type of mineralization sought historically by the underground mining operators at the Anita Mine.

Westminster's Anita Copper Mine Project occurs in an area of strongly weathered and leached, structurally-controlled mineralized breccia zones traced in outcrop for over 600 meters. Abundant secondary copper oxide minerals and sulphides occur throughout the breccias. The mine area has old Spanish workings, which targeted high grade gold, and 4 historic adits, shafts and declines. Most development occurred between 1900 and 1910 exploiting high-grade copper sulphides (chalcopyrite and bornite). These primary sulphides were preserved from leaching due to encapsulation in silicified zones within the breccia structure. No drilling has been previously conducted on the El Cobre property. The Company's Phase I-core drill program commenced as planned in late 2010 and concluded on March 29, 2011 with a total of 3600 meters of drilling.

Eight drill holes for a length of 1132 meters were completed prior to the 2010 year end Christmas break. Results announced by the Company included an intercept of 9 meters grading 2.37% copper, 22.72 g/t silver and 1.17 g/t gold in hole ELC-05 where only 60% core recovery was obtained (WMR 11-02 press release, Feb 07, 2011). The additional 14 holes drilled to March 29, 2011 have been sent for assay, with analytical results expected prior to the end of April. Drill target selection was based on the outcropping mineralized breccia unit as well as results of a detailed CSMAT survey completed by Quantec Geoscience for Westminster in 2010, which outlined areas of anomalous resistivity.

Mineralized drill core intercepts were sawed in half at a secure site. One half of the core, in generally 1.5 meter sample lengths, was collected by Sonora Sample Preparations (SSP) S.A. de C.V. of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, who then prepared and shipped test samples to ACME Analytical Laboratories Ltd., Vancouver for assay. A total of 1784 core sample pulps are now being analyzed with results expected at the end of April.

Project Manager Bruce Ballantyne stated "We are looking forward to establishing the content of precious-metals and high grade copper oxide and primary sulphide mineralization hosted in this breccia structure. Since only a portion of the Anita Mine target has been tested in these relative shallow preliminary drill holes, we look forward to results from an expanded drill program planned for the next phase in 2011."

Glen Indra President and CEO agreed "Our adjustments to drilling after the Christmas break improved core recovery, and we expect that R.C. drilling and core drilling in our next phase will add substantially to our understanding of the Anita mineralized system. We believe that the attractive Anita Copper Mine target may lead us at depth to porphyry style mineralization, which we suspect generated this high grade, near-surface, copper-gold-silver breccia-hosted material."
