BOUCHERVILLE, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - May 19, 2005) - Uni-Select Inc. (TSX:UNS) has entered into discussions with Conseillers en gestion et informatique CGI Inc with a view to appointing a service provider to manage its hardware, mainframe and related information technology infrastructure as well as the delivery of application support services.
Uni-Select intends to retain the strategic orientation of its future needs.
Customer services are not part of these discussions nor are customer IT needs that are served by third party suppliers.
No definitive agreement has intervened.
Uni-Select is Canada's second largest distributor of automotive replacement parts, equipment, tools and accessories and through Uni-Select USA, Inc., the company also provides service to customers in the United States where it is the 8th largest distributor. Its subsidiary, Palmar, sells replacement parts, tools and accessories for heavy duty vehicles and wheels in Canada. The Uni-Select Network includes over 800 independent jobbers in Canada and almost 2,000 in the United States.
