TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 10, 2012) - Solutions4CO2 Inc. ("S4CO2") (TSX VENTURE:SFC), is pleased to announce a joint venture with BARD Holding, Inc. (www.bardholding.com) (the "S4CO2 - BARD Joint Venture") to co-develop waste gas/water to co-products facilities in Canada. The initial phase of the joint venture will establish a 50,000 sq. ft. research and development facility (the "Facility") at the River Centre located in the Bluewater Energy Park (www.bluewaterenergypark.ca) in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. The Bluewater Energy Park is owned and operated by TransAlta Corporation ("TransAlta") (www.transalta.com), Canada's largest power producer. S4CO2 and TransAlta also announce the completion of negotiations regarding the construction and lease of the Facilty.
Pursuant to the terms of the joint venture agreement and the lease of the Facilty, the parties intend to construct a waste gas/water to co-product facility on the Bluewater Energy Park site utilizing waste CO2 gas streams from local emitters to grow microalgae that will be further processed into high value co-products such as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, biofuels, bioplastics, animal and aqua feeds.
"These arrangements combine S4CO2's highly efficient gas capture and infusion system with BARD's algae cultivation and processing system into a single scalable platform for deployment in Canada. The area around Sarnia, also known as Chemical Valley, with its varied sources of CO2 emissions is an ideal location to base this world class research and development facility which will focus on co-product and system development.", according to Dr. Surajit Khanna, Chairman and CEO of BARD Holding, Inc.
"We are very pleased to have this leading edge, cleantech, research and development facility located at the Bluewater Energy Park and the opportunity to work with the S4CO2 - BARD Joint Venture in the future to utilize waste CO2 emissions and other outputs from our onsite cogeneration facility" said Peter Smith, TransAlta's Director of Commercial Management for Eastern Canada.
"We are delighted that TransAlta provided the opportunity to locate this leading edge research and development facility in the Bluewater Energy Park in the centre of Canada's petrochemical industry. We are excited to be partnered with BARD, and their leading edge microalgae growth system to showcase the S4CO2 process and the efficiencies it introduces to the gas capture to co-product process." said Doug Kemp-Welch, CEO of Solutions4CO2 Inc.
About Soutions4CO 2 Inc.:
Solutions4CO2 Inc. has a patented system to capture Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) from waste gas streams. The system utilizes these gases in the production of high-value co-products derived from microalgae. The Corporation's system utilizes patented technology under exclusive license and supply agreements to efficiently capture and separate the primary greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide, from post combustion, fermentation or biogas processes. The system is capable of efficiently capturing over 95% of these gasses and delivers these gasses in a fully dissolved form into algae cultivation systems resulting in enhanced growth rates. The system is capable of optimizing the delivery of CO2 by monitoring the level of CO2 in solution to an accuracy of 5ppm. The company is focused on designing, building, operating and maintaining these waste gas/water to co-product systems in partnership with large emitters and co-product producers.
