MONTREAL, Dec. 29 /CNW Telbec/ - GROUPE LAPERRIERE & VERREAULT INC. ("GL&V" or "the Company"; ticker symbols GLV.A, GLV.B/TSX) is pleased to announce the closing of the transaction, disclosed on December 12, 2006, pursuant to which GL&V acquires from Metso Corporation ("Metso") the technologies and certain other assets relating to the pulp washing, oxygen delignification and bleaching business of the Swedish Kvaerner Pulping, including the Compact Press(R) wash press technology, along with Metso's SuperBatch(TM) cooking technology. This transaction follows Metso's acquisition of part of Aker Kvaerner's operations.

The Process Group offers an extensive selection of liquid/solid separation solutions intended for metal and minerals processing, as well as industrial and environmental processes used in various other markets such as pulp and paper, energy, chemicals, petrochemicals and food processing.
