Canada's breakfast leader introduces New Egg White Breakfast Sandwich on New Whole Grain English Muffin
OAKVILLE, ON, Dec. 15, 2011 /CNW/ - With a new year - and new resolutions - right around the corner, Canadians who are trying to eat well on-the-go will have a new option at Tim Hortons; the Egg White Breakfast Sandwich served on a whole grain English muffin.
Made with an egg white omelette, delicately flavoured with cheese and onion and served with hickory smoked ham on a toasted whole grain English muffin, the new Egg White Breakfast Sandwich provides a delicious, convenient, protein-packed start to the day. This new addition to Tim Hortons' popular breakfast sandwich line-up is an excellent choice for Canadians who are trying to eat well; it contains 240 calories, 17 grams of protein, 3 grams of fibre and 7 grams of fat.
"Mornings are a hectic time for most people, so they're often trying to grab breakfast on-the-go. Finding balanced options can be challenging but there are good choices available," explains Sandy Schwenger, a Registered Dietitian. "For example, pairing the Tim Hortons Egg White Breakfast Sandwich with a bottle of orange juice provides Canadians a nourishing and complete breakfast, featuring all four food groups."
Tim Hortons leads the breakfast category among quick-service restaurants in Canada, serving more than 185 million breakfast sandwiches last year alone, according to NPD Group, a leading market research company. Two out of every three people buying breakfast at a restaurant in Canada chose to have their most important meal of the day at Tim Hortons. The company first introduced breakfast sandwiches in November 2006; five years later, it is the market leader with a 57 percent share, serving more breakfast sandwiches in Canada than all of its competitors combined.
"We talk to our guests on a regular basis to ensure that our menu meets their needs," said Donna Finelli, Director of Brand Marketing for Food at Tim Hortons. "We're confident that the new Egg White Breakfast Sandwich will be a popular addition to our morning menu as we know that many of our guests are trying to eat well on-the-go, but don't want to compromise on taste." The Egg White Breakfast Sandwich is the latest menu addition from Tim Hortons that addresses consumers' desire for balanced on-the-go-options, including Homestyle Oatmeal, yogurt and berries, and Real Fruit Smoothies to name a few.
The Egg White Breakfast Sandwich is made fresh to order for each guest. It will be available at Tim Hortons locations across Canada beginning December 19th, 2011 for $2.69. In order to start the new year off right, the new Egg White Breakfast Sandwich will be featured at special introductory price of $1.99 throughout the month of January.
