ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR--(CCNMatthews - May 2, 2006) - The Board of Directors of Fortis Inc. (TSX:FTS) today appointed Mr. Bruce Chafe non-executive Chair of the Board of Fortis Inc. His appointment follows the retirement of Dr. Angus A. Bruneau who has served as Chair of the Board of Fortis Inc. since 1988.
Mr. Chafe is a retired senior partner of Deloitte & Touche LLP. He was appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1990 in recognition of his contribution to the profession of public accounting. Mr. Chafe has served as a Director of Fortis Inc. since 1997. He recently retired as Chair of the Board of Newfoundland Power, a position he held since 2000, and continues to serve on the Company's Board of Directors. Mr. Chafe also serves as a Director of Fortis Properties and FortisBC.
