VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 6, 2006) - Bayfield Ventures Corp. (TSX VENTURE:BYV) (Bayfield) has been advised that an individual had filed an application for a license overlapping 2 of 3 licenses, which Bayfield has held since January 2004, with the Mongolian Government's Resources and Petroleum Authority (MPRAM) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. MPRAM denied the individual's license application because they were overlapping Bayfield's licenses. The individual appealed the decision to MPRAM and again MPRAM rejected the individual's application. The Company was never notified or made a party to these applications.
The claimant subsequently commenced an administrative action against the Mongolian Government's MPRAM in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia alleging irregularities in the Government's license renewal process. In order to protect its interest, Bayfield has retained counsel in Mongolia and was added as a third party in the Administrative Court proceedings. The Company has been advised by its counsel that the Administrative Court has ruled against MPRAM. The Company's counsel has not received written reasons for the decision at this time. The Company has instructed its counsel to appeal the decision and is confident that the appeal will uphold two previous MPRAM decisions denying this individual's claims and is taking all appropriate steps to protect its interests.
