Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry to attend
UMBATA FALLS MILLER, ON, Sept. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - Michel Letellier,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Innergex Renewable ("Innergex")
and Chief Roy Michano, of the Pic River First Nation are please to
invite the media to an official event, celebrating the success of the
Umbata Falls Power Station project. The event will be held in the
presence of the Honourable Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern
Development, Mines and Forestry of Ontario.
The Umbata Falls run-of-river hydroelectric plant is located on the
White River, a tributary of Lake Superior, some 30 kilometres southeast
of Marathon, Ontario. It has a nameplate capacity of 23.0 MW. This
renewable energy facility was developed in partnership with the Pic
River First Nation. The Ojibways of the Pic River First Nation owns a
51% share in Umbata Falls. The remaining 49% is owned by Innergex. A
power purchase agreement for 100% of the energy generated until November
12, 2028, has been signed with the Ontario Power Authority.
