CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 9, 2005) - SPITFIRE ENERGY LTD. (TSX VENTURE:SEL) is pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs. Cathy Strange to its technical team as Senior Geologist. Mrs. Strange graduated from the University of Calgary in 1985 with a BSc., Geology and has been employed in the industry since with Husky Oil Ltd., Elk Point Resources Ltd. and Discovery Drilling Funds.
Spitfire's Vice-President, Exploration, Matt Duford commenting on the announcement, said, "We are pleased that Cathy is joining Spitfire's team. Cathy brings to the company 20 years of exploration and exploitation experience and I believe she will contribute significantly to our future growth through prospect generation and implementation."
Spitfire intends granted a total of 221,000 options to eligible participants pursuant to its shareholder-approved stock option plan. All of the options are exercisable for a five-year term at 47 cents per common share and vest over three years from the date of grant. Of the options granted, 100,000 are to directors with the remaining grants to employees and consultants. Following today's grant, 220,774 common shares remain reserved for issuance pursuant to Spitfire's stock option plan.
