VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC, Mar. 11, 2010 (Marketwire) -- Hinterland Metals Inc. (TSX VENTURE:HMI) is pleased to announce it has resumed drilling on the Lockout property located 100km due east of Lebel-sur-Quevillon, Quebec. The property is situated in the Barry-Urban Greenstone Belt approximately 4km west of Eagle Hill's Windfall Lake Project and 8km north of Metanor Resources' Barry open pit gold mine. The current program will systematically test the Panache Gold Zone over a 1.2km distance. Hinterland identified the gold-bearing zone following a drill program done in September 2009 that intersected gold mineralization in all seven of the holes drilled. Highlights of the September program included up to 5.2g/t Au over 2.0m within a zone of 1.7g/t Au over 7.0m (Hinterland Press Release October 28, 2009). Intersections varied from 6.2 to 12.9m in width and from 0.6 to 1.7g/t Au in grade. The gold mineralization was found along the contact between mafic volcanic rocks and a graphitic unit and appears to be related to porphyry dykes injected adjacent to the contact.
"Our timing with this drill program is great considering the renewed interest in the area brought on by Eagle Hill. Hinterland's skill has always been in getting into prospective areas early on like Barry-Urban in Quebec and White Gold in Yukon" comments Mark Fekete, President and CEO of Hinterland.
The analytical results referred to in this release were determined at Bourlamaque Assay Laboratories ("Bourlamaque") in Val d'Or, Quebec by fire assay, atomic absorption technique for gold. Bourlamaque is not accredited but it is independent of HMI, maintains an internal quality control program and participates annually in CANMET round-robin proficiency testing. Also, HMI inserts blanks, standards and duplicates according to an independently designed and monitored QAQC program. Mark Fekete, P.Geo is the designated "qualified person" as defined in Section 1.2 in and for the purposes of National Instrument 43-101 responsible for the preparation of this release.
