TORONTO, ONTARIO, Dec. 7, 2009 (Marketwire) -- Duran Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE:DRV) is pleased to announce the initiation of drilling at the Aguila porphyry copper-molybdenum project. Energold Drilling Peru S.A.C. has been contracted and drilling has commenced. The program will continue into 2010.
Energold Drilling has extensive experience drilling in rugged terrain for numerous clients in Peru. Their drills are modular and man-portable, with a small environmental footprint. They were originally designed for helicopter-supported drill programs in steep terrain in northern B.C., and are very suitable for work in the Andes. Worldwide clients include Barrick Gold, BHP Billiton, Goldcorp, Meridian Gold, Newmont Mining, and many others.
The objective of the Company's drill program is to expand the area of the Aguila target and test geological and geophysical targets which have been defined through ongoing surface mapping and sampling together with the recently completed geophysical survey.
Duran is a Canadian exploration company focused on the exploration and development of porphyry copper, precious metal, and polymetallic deposits in Peru. Strong copper and molybdenum prices are cause for renewed focus on the Company's flagship project, the Aguila Copper Molybdenum Porphyry.
All core samples will be prepared and analyzed at ALS Chemex in Lima (a certified laboratory) using a four-acid digestion and atomic absorption (AQR/AA) method for copper and molybdenum, as well as a multi-element ICP analysis. The company has a QA/QC protocol in place, including the use of certified standards and secure care and custody of samples.
