EDMONTON, June 25 /CNW/ - Seair Inc. (SDS:TSX Venture Exchange) is pleased to announce Canfor Pulp and Paper Ltd. has completed the comprehensive trial and testing of a Seair SA600 system. With the successful conclusion of the trial, Canfor has acquired the SA600 system and placed an order for a second, identical, system.
Canfor initially tested and subsequently purchased a Seair SA400 system in October 2007 at their Taylor, British Columbia mill. In early 2008 a much larger SA600 system was installed at the Taylor mill for commercial scale testing in the aeration pond. The objective of the trial was to assess both the pure aeration effectiveness of the SA600 and the required energy consumption in a variety of operating conditions.
Craig Thomson, Energy and Environmental Supervisor at the Canfor mill, states "the Seair SA600 is remarkable. Our mill succeeds when we increase the frequency and duration of hardwood runs, and since installing the SA600 we've set multiple hardwood records. Seair's equipment, by very efficiently maintaining high dissolved oxygen levels in our aeration pond, has been a major contributor to these record results. We will now be proceeding with a full measurement and verification ("M&V") study, which we expect to complete in the next 30 days, to definitively quantify the productivity gains and energy savings generated by the Seair SA600."
Canfor is using Seair's patented diffusion towers to increase dissolved oxygen levels in the mill's aeration pond. Ambient air is run through the diffusion towers to produce a micro-bubble aeration process where the amount of available oxygen is increased and the aggregate surface area of the oxygen bubbles is 1,000 times greater than conventional fine bubble diffusion systems.
